Eggers Hops
Six generations of hop growing
Our Story
Our family’s hop-growing story began with Hans Eggers, who settled in the Moutere Valley in the 1800s. Six generations later, hop resin still runs through our veins. That legacy - built on knowledge, experience, and a deep respect for the land - comes through in every harvest.
It’s not farming for us, it’s growing. It’s blood, sweat, and tears poured into producing a truly exceptional product. We’re independent and family-owned, and we work directly with brewers of every size who value quality, transparency, and connection.
Run today by father-and-son team Mike and Kem, we’re horticulturalists first - chasing flavour and aroma over volume, and controlling every aspect of production. We keep each garden separate, dry the hops in our bespoke Eggers Oast, and trace every lot back to the row it was picked from.
That same hands-on approach drives our ongoing Riwaka Project, where we hand-select outstanding plants from our own gardens to develop cultivars you won’t find anywhere else.
